A Portland PPC Agency That Pays for Itself

Drive the right traffic, win more customers, and stop wasting spend. Brilliance manages PPC across Google, Microsoft, Meta, and LinkedIn for businesses that want measurable results.

Let us make things easier!

PPC Management Done Right

Paid advertising is either the most measurable marketing you'll ever run or the fastest way to burn a budget. Poor targeting, lazy keyword lists, stagnant ad copy, and traffic dumped onto landing pages that were never built to convert. These things cause leaks, and if you don’t know what to look for, a mismanaged ad campaign can pilot you underwater.

Brilliance is the Portland PPC agency that finds the leaks before they sink you. Whether you're a local business spending a few hundred a month or a national brand with a serious budget, we run every account the way we'd run our own: ruthlessly focused on what it costs you to win a customer.

What We Run

We run campaigns across the platforms where your customers actually are:

Google Ads: search, shopping, and Performance Max. Where the highest-intent demand lives, and where most of your budget should probably go.

Microsoft Advertising: search on Bing, often overlooked (but can sometimes punch above its weight), with an audience that converts particularly well for B2B and older demographics.

Meta (Facebook & Instagram): paid social for awareness, retargeting, and demand generation, with detailed audience and interest targeting.

LinkedIn Ads: precise B2B targeting by role, industry, and company for higher-consideration services and longer sales cycles.

The platform you choose depends on your customers. We’ll help you decide.

How We Work

Good PPC isn't "set it and forget it." Here's our process:

Audit & discovery. If you’ve run ads before, we crunch those numbers to see what’s working, what’s wasting, and where the fastest wins are. If you haven’t, we start with your goals, your customers, and your competitors, and map out where your budget will work hardest before we spend a dollar.

Strategy & structure. We build campaigns around your actual objectives — leads, sales, or awareness — with the right platform mix, account structure, and targeting.

Keyword & audience research. We identify the terms and audiences worth paying for and — just as importantly– the ones worth excluding so you're not paying for bad clicks.

Ad creation & testing. We write the ad copy and build the creative, then A/B test to find what actually drives clicks and conversions.

Landing page & conversion focus. Clicks don't pay the bills but conversions do. We make sure the page your ad points to is built to turn visitors into customers.

Optimization & scaling. We monitor performance continuously, cut what's not working, double down on what is, and scale winning campaigns as results come in.

Transparent reporting. You get clear, regular reporting on the metrics that matter — cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and return on ad spend — plus plain-English interpretation, not just a dashboard dump.

What Creates a Winning Search Campaign

A Google search campaign looks simple from the outside, but underneath, a lot has to go right. Here's what separates a campaign that prints customers from one that drains a budget:

The right keywords (and the right negatives). Winning isn't just about bidding on the terms you want. It's about aggressively blocking the ones you don't. "Emergency plumber Portland" is gold; "plumber salary" and "how to fix a leak yourself" are money down the drain. Most wasted spend hides in the negative keyword list nobody bothered to build.

Be skeptical about Google’s recommendations: Google's built-in suggestions are designed to get you spending more — expanding into the Display Network, Search Partners, and broad match — even when it doesn’t make sense. That can mean wasting money on useless clicks for bad keywords or appearing on low-quality websites (think auto-refreshing junk sites and misclicks from free mobile games).

Display advertising has its place in certain situations — retargeting, brand awareness — but it needs to be a managed, deliberate choice.

Tight ad groups. Cramming fifty keywords into one ad group means one generic ad trying to answer fifty different searches. We build tightly themed groups so the ad matches the intent. That lifts relevance, cuts your cost per click, and wins better positions for fewer dollars.

Ad copy that earns the click. You get a few lines to beat every other advertiser on the page. The best ads speak to the searcher's exact intent, lead with what makes you different, and tell them precisely what to do next.

A landing page built to convert. This is where most campaigns quietly die. The landing page has to match the ad's promise, add additional substantive information, and make the next step obvious. Need help with that? We build websites, too.

Value, not vanity. Not every click is worth the same. We bid up on the searches, times, devices, and locations that produce customers, and pull back where it doesn't.

Constant measurement. Conversion tracking is the difference between managing a campaign and guessing at one. If you can't see which keywords produce customers and not just clicks, you're flying blind.

Get these right and PPC becomes the most measurable marketing you'll ever run: every dollar in, tracked to every dollar out. Get them wrong and it's the fastest way to burn a budget in advertising.

The difference is management, and that's the whole job.

PPC Pitfalls

Three things separate PPC that prints money from PPC that burns it:

Optimizing for the wrong goal. Clicks, impressions, conversions — none of them is universally "right." A brand-awareness campaign should chase reach and cheap impressions while a lead-gen campaign should chase cost per acquisition.

The pitfall is optimizing for a metric that looks good in a report but has nothing to do with what the campaign was built to achieve.

Set and forget. The launch is the easy part. The value is in what happens over the following weeks and months: reading the search terms report and adding negatives before wasted spend adds up, shifting budget toward the keywords and times that convert, pausing ads that have gone stale, and adjusting bids as competitors move.

A campaign left on autopilot can decay as it quietly drifts toward whatever's cheapest for Google to serve, which can be counterproductive. Ongoing management is the difference between a campaign that improves over time and one that slides into the red.

Ignoring where the click lands. The best ad in the world can't fix a landing page that doesn't convert. It's easy to pour budget into ads while sending that hard-won traffic to a page that was never built to sell. Getting the click is half the job; getting the sale is the landing page’s duty.

Think your ad budget is leaking?

Most wasted PPC spend hides in plain sight — bad keywords, missing negatives, clicks landing on pages that don't convert. We'll look at what your campaigns are actually doing and show you where the money's going. Month-to-month contracts, no handcuffs.

Why Brilliance

We operate at real scale. We manage ad budgets from lean local campaigns to multimillion-dollar national accounts, across both search and social. The size of your budget only changes the stakes, not the attention it gets.

Portland based, national in scope. We're a Portland team that knows the local market, running campaigns for brands well beyond it. When you call, you reach the people who actually manage your account and know it inside out — not a rotating cast of junior reps reading from a script.

We tailor, not template. Your business, goals, and competitors are specific to you, so your strategy should be too. We build campaigns around what you're trying to achieve instead of dropping you into a one-size-fits-all package and hoping it fits.

Straight talk. You'll always know what your spend is doing and why we're making the calls we're making. Clear reporting, plain-English recommendations, and no hiding behind vanity metrics when something isn't working.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much should I budget for PPC?

Most small-to-mid businesses start somewhere between $1,000 and $10,000 per month in ad spend, separate from management fees — but the right number depends on your industry, competition, and goals. The goal is to spend enough to gather the data needed to optimize while staying within what a converted customer is worth to you. Overspending wastes budget; underspending starves the campaign of data. We'll work with you to find the comfortable middle.

How is PPC management priced?

Management is a monthly fee that's separate from your ad spend (the money that goes to Google, Meta, etc.). Depending on the type and complexity of the campaigns you're running, that's structured as either a flat monthly fee or a percentage of ad spend. We'll recommend the right setup based on your goals during our first conversation.

How soon will I see results?

PPC is fast compared to organic SEO as campaigns can start driving traffic on launch day. However, every campaign requires a learning period where we gather data, crunch numbers, and optimize. Meaningful, stable results typically take one to three months as campaigns mature. The longer the ads run, the more optimized they can become.

Do you require long-term contracts?

Nope. At Brilliance, we work month-to-month, with no long-term contracts or lock-in. We want to earn your business each month.

What's the difference between PPC and SEO?

PPC is paid visibility — you pay for placement and results start immediately but stop when you stop paying. With PPC, you're competing with other businesses bidding on the same keywords. On Google and Bing, search ads are displayed at the top with a "sponsored" tag.

Other types of PPC ads are display ads (the banners you see across websites and apps), shopping ads (product listings with an image and price), video ads on YouTube, and paid social ads on platforms like Meta and LinkedIn.

SEO is organic visibility — ranking for certain keywords in search engines and AI answers. SEO takes longer to build but keeps working over time. Most businesses get the best return running both together.

We offer SEO marketing services for local Portland businesses and national brands.
